Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Lo Spendore dei Sassi in Matera, and I must say, the experience was a thoughtful blend of value and comfort. The hotel is ideally located, just a stroll away from main attractions, yet tucked away enough to provide a peaceful retreat. My room, although not the largest available, had essential amenities like air conditioning and tea facilities, which added to my comfort during the stay. Pasquale, our host, was accommodating, from helping with luggage to sharing valuable insights about the best routes around the Sassi. There's something to be said for personalized service - it makes a good stay even better. With a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, the room catered to modern needs without overshadowing its charm. Restaurants like Kiev Ristorante and Osteria al Casale, both recommended by Pasquale, offered good local cuisine matching the hotel's ambiance. For eco-conscious travelers, the convenience of public parking nearby is a plus. If you're looking for a place that balances luxury with practicality, I'd recommend considering Lo Spendore. You get a slice of Matera's charm without overspending.
